Not enough room for everyone: who else can leave Real Madrid in the offseason

Real Madrid are not very active on the transfer market. Midfielder Reinier, winger Takefuso Kubo, defender Alvaro Odriosola and forward Borja Majoral returned to the Real Madrid club on loan. The Ljubljana side have signed midfielder Aurélien Tchouameni from Monaco for €80m and defender Antonio Rüdiger. The German was loaned to the Spanish champions for free. The Blancos’ head coach Carlo Ancelotti has said there are no plans for more transfers.

At the same time Luka Jovic, winger Gareth Bale, midfielder Isco and defender Marcelo left “Royal Club”. All of them left for free. Even the Serbian, for whom Real Madrid paid Eintracht 63 million euros three years ago. It is highly probable that the list of outgoing transfers for the “Slivos” will not end there. The Blancos still have players who can and probably should leave. They are unlikely to get enough playing time at Real Madrid.

Andrei Lunin

Lunin’s future at the Royal Club remains murky. He himself realizes that as Thibaut Courtois’ replacement, he has little chance of playing time. The 23-year-old goalkeeper played just 4 games last season – 2 in the Spanish Cup and the league. And in La Liga these matches were no longer important for “Real” in terms of the tournament.

Ancelotti promises the Ukrainian more playing time in the next season, but how much more will it be with a healthy Courtois? Surely at an easier club Andriy could become the main goalkeeper. Moreover, there is interest in him in Europe. It’s up to the player, of course, but sitting the best years of his career on the bench, even at Real Madrid, is a dubious prospect.

Jesus Vallejo

Since joining Real Madrid in the summer of 2015, Vallejo has spent most of his career on loan. Last summer, it seemed that the defender would finally have opportunities at the Royal Club after the departures of Sergio Ramos and Rafael Varan. But no.

Five games in La Liga and eight minutes overall in the Champions League is clearly not what the 25-year-old centre-back hoped for. His contract with the “Slivos” is for another 3 years, but it does not make sense to stay for such a long period. With Antonio Rüdiger, David Alaba, Eder Militao and Nacho in place, the Spaniard will rarely be even a fourth option in defense. The prospects are, frankly, bad.

Alvaro Odriosola

Odriosola has been on loan lately. And he had some good options – Bayern and Fiorentina. “The Fiallas were ready to buy the player, but he wanted to return to Real. The Spaniard’s desire to play for the “royal club” is commendable. Another thing is that he has few chances.

The position of the main right-back is occupied by Dani Carvajal. The Spaniard sometimes have health problems, but in this case he can be replaced by Lucas Vasquez. Perhaps it would be better for the 26-year-old fullback to leave the club. All the more since there are clubs willing to give him playing time.

Dani Ceballos

Seballos, like Odriosola, has a great desire to play for Real Madrid. Another thing is that there are no big opportunities. Eduardo Camavanga, Toni Kroos, Federico Valverde and Luka Modrić can play in the central midfield position at the Royal Club. The Spaniard loses competition to all four players, as was evident last season.

The Blancos’ squad is becoming cramped with midfielders and Ceballos is the first candidate to leave. Now his possible return to Betis is being actively discussed. It would be a good option for the 25-year-old Spaniard. “The Verdiblancos are performing well under Manuel Pellegrini and reaching the European Cups. Ceballos should consider a return to his home club.

Reinier had a good opportunity to take over as Real Madrid’s attacking midfielder after Isco’s departure, but he did not take it. The Brazilian spent a faded two-year period with Borussia Dortmund on loan. It is unlikely that he will spend next season with the Royal Club.

“The Slivos may not sell the 20-year-old player, but may send him on loan again. “Benfica are interested in signing the player. Reinier moved to Real Madrid in the winter of 2020 from Flamengo for 30 million euros, but has not yet played a single match for the first team of the Blancos.

Marco Asensio

Based on last season, we can assume that Rodrigo will be the main right winger for Real Madrid. But this position is also claimed by Takefusa Kubo and Marco Asensio. The Japanese plan to sell the Japanese to Real Sociedad, but there are questions regarding the Spaniard.

Last season was the best of his career for Asensio in terms of performance (10 goals in La Liga). But Marco is unstable, which makes his future at the Royal Club uncertain. The 26-year-old winger’s contract with the Blancos is for another 1 year. The footballer wants to get more playing time, which Ancelotti cannot guarantee him. The Spaniard will have a lot to think about in the coming weeks.

Majoral or Diaz

There is no doubt that Karim Benzema will remain Real Madrid’s main striking force. But the “Royal Club” still have 2 other center-forwards – Borja Majoral and Mariano Diaz. One of them will be enough to replace the Frenchman.

Perhaps Majoral has a little more chance to stay. After all, he is a pupil of Real Madrid, and at Roma he performed well on loan for some time, and the club have been trying to sell Diaz for a long time. The Blancos’ entire attacking line is questionable. All three strikers have contracts expiring in a year. But someone from the Majoral-Dias pairing could leave the “Royal Club” as early as this summer.
